A Look Back

Collaborating with communities and educators to promote environmental stewardship is like planting seeds in a garden. Each initiative nurtures growth, creating a vibrant ecosystem of knowledge, cultural connection, and sustainability that blossoms over time, fostering resilience for future generations.

2023 Climate Change Summer Camp

During the camp, students delved into diverse climate change concepts, with a focus on forestry, water, and wildlife. High student engagement was fostered through hands-on experiments, insightful talks by local guest speakers, and a field trip to our nearby CSKT Division of Fire, Forestry, and McDonald Lake. This immersive experience allowed students to grasp the tangible effects of climate change on both global and local ecosystems, empowering them with the knowledge to contribute towards a healthier and more sustainable future.

2024 CSKT & SKC Earth Day

The 2024 CSKT & SKC Earth Day event focused on climate solutions adaptations, regulatory issues, and power generation. Presentations highlighted tools for individuals to explore climate mooring stations, weather patterns, drought conditions, and ecosystem data. Attendees engaged with hands-on resources, including climate and environmental monitoring tools. A special highlight was the National Resource Escape Room, created by SKC Climate Learning Hib in collaboration with USGS and NASA, offering an interactive way to learn about natural resource management and climate challenges.

2024 Regional Climate Symposium

This second annual symposium, hosted by SKC Climate Learning Hub and sponsored by the Waverley Street Foundation, brought together experts, students, and community members to explore regional climate impacts and renewable energy solutions. Presentations integrated Indigenous and Western views, covering energy and water cycle dynamics, renewable energy opportunities, funding resources, ecology, and Indigenous philosophy. The event fostered collaboration and a deeper understanding of climate challenges and solutions in the region.
